Here is a typical Canadian Rockies Itinerary for those who do not want to drive. This independent tour offers transfers, sightseeing excursions and accommodation, together with the world famous 2-day journey onboard the Rocky Mountaineer and a 7-night Alaska cruise.
Day 1 Calgary: arrive at the airport where a private transfer will take you to your downtown hotel with the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2 Banff: this morning leave Calgary and enjoy a full day sightseeing tour to Banff. Your first stop will be at Stoney Nakoda Resort to visit the Native Heritage artefacts exhibits. Then continue west to Banff National Park and enjoy a short tour visiting sightseeing highlights including Bow Falls and Surprise Corner before heading to Sulphur Mountain for a Gondola ride (admission included) to the top for stunning views over the surrounding area.
Day 3 Lake Louise: enjoy a morning at leisure before a short coach transfer to Lake Louise. Overnight Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise (Fairmont Room).
Day 4 Jasper: travel with a driver/guide on a full day journey to Jasper and learn all about the famous mountain characters who made their mark on one of the “world’s most spectacular mountain highways”. In the comfort of a luxury motorcoach, your trip will allow opportunities for mountain wildlife viewing and visits to scenic viewpoints. At the Columbia Ice Field, enjoy a ride on the Athabasca Glacier on board an Ice Explorer (included).
Day 5 Jasper: today visit one of the most spectacular areas of Jasper National Park. Your first stop is Maligne Canyon then continue to Maligne Lake for a 90-minute interpretative boat cruise bound for the world-renowned Sprit Island; bring your camera as this truly is a picture postcard setting. Remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 6 Rocky Mountaineer: transfer to the train station (not included) and board the train. Travel the “Yellowhead” route past Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, then follow the Thompson River before arriving in Kamloops. Breakfast and lunch is included today. Overnight accommodation (standard grade) allocated by Rocky Mountaineer.
Day 7 Rocky Mountaineer: re-board and continue your journey through the Fraser Canyon and past the fertile farming region of the Fraser Valley to Vancouver where, upon arrival, a transfer will take you to your hotel. Breakfast and lunch is included today.
Day 8 Vancouver: included today is a pass for the hop-on/hop bus tour that allows you to visit at any of the 20 stops including English Bay beach, Granville Island, Chinatown and Gastown. We recommend you take a full circuit then repeat the journey hopping off/on as you please.
Days 9 to 16 Holland America Cruise to Alaska: enjoy a morning at leisure before taking a taxi (not included) to the cruise ship terminal to check in for your 7-night cruise.
Day 16 Vancouver: the ship docks at 7am this morning, take a taxi (not included) to your hotel where you can leave your luggage with the concierge before enjoying free time for last minute shopping and sightseeing.
Day 17 End of Tour: after checking out from your hotel a private transfer will take you to the airport for your return flight to the UK.
