Taj and Tigers 9 day tour

The options when travelling in India are vast. We offer a tailor-made service giving you suggestions on where to stay and what to do from our own experiences of travelling in India.

Here is a typical “Taj and Tigers” Itinerary for those who want an enthralling glimpse into the very fabric of India. This tour offers exploration of the capital city of Delhi – so vibrant and passionate. A journey to the Taj Mahal, the eternal symbol of love in Agra. Then heads for the jungle and tiger sighting in the famous Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. Finally you will visit the pink city of Jaipur and the imposing Amber Fort.

Day 1 to Delhi: Fly from Heathrow to Delhi on direct Jet Airways flight.

Day 2 Delhi: Arrive Delhi in the morning. Afternoon sightseeing of Old Delhi visiting the Jama Masjid, by cycle rickshaw, via the pulsating Chandni Chowk market area. These labyrinthine back streets of Delhi were once the capital in Mughal times and called Shah Jehanabad. Later visit the Raj Ghat – Mahatma Gandhi’s moving cremation site, before returning to the hotel. Overnight stay at the Maidens.

Day 3 To Agra: Morning sightseeing of New Delhi includes the impressive Humayun’s Tomb, the Qutab Minar and India Gate. Afternoon drive to Agra. Two nights stay at The Gateway Hotel Fatehabad Road.

Day 4 Agra: Sunrise visit to the beautiful Taj Mahal, the symbol of eternal love. After breakfast visit the stunning Agra Fort, built by the Mughul Emperors to symbolise their power, with its shady gardens and wide terraces overlooking the Jamuna River. Also visit the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah.

Day 5 To Ranthambore: Morning drive to Bharatpur railway station to board train to Sawai Madhopur. Afternoon jeep drive into Ranthambore National Park, one of India’s Project Tiger reserves. Two nights stay at Tiger Den Resort.

Day 6 Ranthambore: Morning and afternoon games drives. Surrounded by the Vindhya and Aravali hill ranges and situated very near to the outer fringes of the Thar Desert, the Park offers a diverse range of habitat for leopard, dhole, wild pig, sambar, chital and gaur to roam.

Day 7 To Jaipur: Early morning game safari. After lunch drive to Jaipur. Two nights stay at the Samode Haveli.

Day 8 Jaipur: After breakfast visit the imposing Amber Fort, climbing the steep slope on the back of a brightly caparisoned elephant. Walk through the Fort bejewelled with outstanding murals and amazing mirror work. Afternoon visit the delightful Palace of the Winds, the Astronomical Observatory and the fascinating City Palace Museum.

Days 9 To Heathrow via Delhi: Morning fly to Delhi and connect to International flight to Heathrow on Jet Airways.

This is a typical Indian Tour covering those all important arrangements when travelling in this vibrant country.
