Malaysia honeymoon
(July 2014)
Our honeymoon was absolutely amazing and I am so glad you recommended for us to go to Malaysia as it was well beyond our expectations and truly a special place to visit.
We spent the first 2 nights in Kuala Lumpur and even though at first we didn’t want to spend any time there we were really happy we did as we were absolutely exhausted from the wedding. The hotel was lovely with great views of the Petronas towers as well as an amazing rooftop cocktail bar! The weather was extremely hot with some heavy thunderstorm showers which was absolutely fine with us as we just wanted to relax and chat about the wedding from a couple of days before.
We then flew to Borneo for 6 days and stayed in the Shangri-La Tanjung-Aru which was absolutely amazing. We spent a day at the Rasa-Ria resort and got to see 3 baby orang-utans in the sanctuary. We also got to see a lot of wildlife including the famous Proboscis Monkey when we went on a firefly river tour which was extremely special. This took place at night and it was like seeing a million lights on a Christmas tree light up down the river – it certainly was a special memory which I will always cherish.
Next stop was back to Kuala Lumpur and then on to the tiny island with only one resort called Pangkor Laut. The car journey through the mainland to get to the island was exhausting as it was about 4 hours long and when you aren’t sure just how beautiful the island will be it was very frustrating to be stuck in a car. However, once we arrived at Pangkor Laut it was absolutely stunning and well worth the drive. The week at Pangkor Laut was so relaxing as we were given complimentary spa treatments every day from an award winning spa opened by Pavarotti! We were all inclusive here so got to eat a lot of seafood and other Malaysian food which was the best food ive ever eaten… we did however put on a bout a stone from having 3 courses for breakfast, lunch and dinner!! We also got to see a lot of beautiful wild birds, a tree full of bats, monkeys, sea turtles and even a poisonous snake!
Overall, our honeymoon was perfect and we didn’t want it to end but had the most amazing and special time together as husband and wife. We couldn’t recommend you enough and are thankful for your recommendation in visiting Malaysia for our honeymoon as it ticked all the boxes.
